    This Privacy Policy, also sometimes referred to as a privacy notice, is intended for anyone using the msichoices.org website and anyone who chooses to support us through subscribing to our email updates and or donating to MSI Reproductive Choices’ life-saving work.

    This policy tells you about the information we, MSI Reproductive Choices, collect and hold about you when you interact with us on our website, support us through donations or subscribe to our communications. It explains what we do with the information, how we will look after it and who we might share it with.

You may give us your information when you visit our website, in order to subscribe to our newsletter, make a donation, leave a legacy or simply communicate with us. Sometimes when you support us, your information is collected by a third party who processes your donations, but we are responsible for your information at all times. 

    Your information is shared with us by a third party or obtained from publicly available sources. Sometimes when you support us, your information is collected by a third party who processes your donation, such as through independent fundraising sites like JustGiving. You should check their privacy policy when you provide your information to understand how they will use your information. 

    When we collect and use your personal information we must have a lawful basis for doing so. If you have made a donation to MSI Reproductive Choices, we need this information to be able to process your donation (including your gift aid declaration if applicable). This lawful basis is known as “contractual necessity”.

    We may also collect your personal information for donor research purposes. It is in our legitimate interest to collect and use this personal information to support and develop our fundraising strategy. This lawful basis is known as “legitimate interest”.

    We take reasonable steps to ensure that any information we hold about you is kept secure through technical controls and secure systems. Our website is hosted by secure servers. The information you choose to share with us through our website is also encrypted. 

    We ensure your information is only accessible to trained staff and contractors responsible for looking after it. 

    Limited MSI Reproductive Choices team members will have access to your information to carry out their jobs, such as team members who maintain our mailing database. 

    We may also engage with third parties, to process information on our behalf such as JustGiving, the donation platform, use third party providers software and systems, and contract with external providers to conduct analysis on our funding streams and engagement. We will always ensure that our contract with them sets our expectations and requirements as to how they should handle your information.  

    We may on occasion need to transfer your information to organisations located outside of the UK. If we do, we will ensure that information is protected to a level which meets our standards. 

    We may have to disclose your details, where required by law, to the police, regulatory bodies or legal advisors. We will never sell your information to third parties. 

    We will never keep information for long than is necessary. If you have donated to MSI Reproductive Choices, we will keep your information for 7 years from the date of your last donation. If you have subscribed to our email update, we will regularly check in with you to ensure you are still happy to receive our updates and you can withdraw your consent to receiving them at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link provided. 

    You information may be kept for longer if required by law. 

    You will always retain rights over your information that you are entitled to exercise where permitted under applicable law. These rights are:  

    Access. You can ask to see the information that MSI holds about you.  
    Rectification. You can ask that information about you that is inaccurate be amended.
