Marie Stopes Nepal has profiled its youth work during a visit from the Dutch Youth Ambassador for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.
The Youth Ambassador, Sanne Thijssen, has been appointed by the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to promote young people’s sexual rights, and champion meaningful youth participation in all areas of decision-making.
She recently visited Marie Stopes Nepal as part of a fact-finding visit to the country organised by MOFA, in which she took the time to learn more about the programme’s highly successful Rockets & Space programme.
Rockets & Space aims to increase availability and uptake of contraception and safe abortion among young people in Nepal, and has so far been successful with almost two million young people receiving information through pop-up sessions, radio shows and Facebook.
During her visit, Ms Thijssen visited Marie Stopes Nepal’s youth friendly service centre in Kathmandu, and spoke with some of the project’s youth pop-up volunteers.
