The outbreak of Ebola has put incredible strain on nurses in Sierra Leone. Fear of contact with health workers means they have been turned away by communities, friends and even family members, adding to the agony created by the crisis.

One of our nurses, Mary Kaifineh, has experienced the negative consequences. She has worked for MS Sierra Leone for five years and is now the leader of the outreach team in the Port Loko District. Mary, like everyone else, never expected that her country would be faced with such a dreadful threat. Here she shares her story:
