Last week, our team in Malawi welcomed the UK’s Minister of State for International Development, the Rt. Hon. Grant Shapps, to a Banja la Mtsogolo (BLM) centre in Lilongwe. Impressed by the impact its family planning programme has in the local community, he pledged DFID'...

The visit gave Shapps the opportunity to become more familiar with BLM’s family planning programme - a programme which the UK has been co-supporting for many years and which was providing contraception for almost one million people in 2014.

Our country director in Malawi, Nicky Matthews, welcomed Shapps upon arrival at Area 25 Clinic and gave him an overview of BLM before introducing him to the team, who took him through the centre, giving a walkthrough of the usual client experience.
