Highlights

  • implementated an Output Based Aid (OBA) scheme for the treatment of sexually transmitted infections and provision of safe deliveries, in partnership with KfW and the Government of Uganda
  • increased the provision of long term methods of family planning by 74% from 2007-2008, largely due to the expansion of outreach services to rural communities
  • distributed more than 18.5 million condoms in 2008, with over 144 million condoms distributed in total since the contraceptive social marketing project was launched
  • only provider in Uganda of long term and permanent methods of family planning via outreach
  • reached women and men living in internally displaced perosns (IDP) camps in conflict affected northern Uganda, through the RAISE initiative, and provided them with long term and permanent family planning methods
  • merger of Marie Stopes Uganda with Marie Stopes International Uganda, leading to increased effectiveness in the provision of sexual and reprodcutive healthcare (SRH) services across Uganda.
