Highlights 

  • opened 49 new clinics in 2008 under a project to massively scale up services so that women in every district of Pakistan will be able to access services at a Marie Stopes Society clinic
  • entered into a successful tripartite partnership with the District Government in Sukkur, the Austrian oil and gas company OMV, and Shell Pakistan to fund a maternal and child health services in Salahpat
  • launched a national call centre to guide women to their nearest service - not just services provided by Marie Stopes Clinic Society but also those provided by other accredited private sector and NGO providers
  • began a HIV/AIDS workplace initiative, "Awareness for Life", with Shell Pakistan. The initiative is raising awareness of HIV/AIDs at all levels of Shell’s operations in Pakistan and the communities in which Shell works. It is also raising awareness of VCT (voluntary counselling & testing) services, including Marie Stopes Society’s VCT centres.
