Highlights

  • won a large grant for a new project to massively scale up services (58 new clinics to be opened over 5 years) so that women in every district of Pakistan will be able to access services at a Marie Stopes Society clinic
  • entered into a successful tri-partite partnership with the District Government in Sukkur, the Austrian oil and gas company OMV, and Shell Pakistan to fund a maternal & child health services in Salahpat
  • opened a custom designed flagship clinic in Karachi which provides services to around 50 women a day
  • began a HIV/AIDS work place initiative Awareness for Life with Shell Pakistan. The initiative is raising awareness of HIV/AIDs at all levels of Shell’s operations in Pakistan and the communities in which Shell works. It is also raising awareness of VCT (voluntary counselling & testing) services, including Marie Stopes Society’s VCT centres

Future plans

  • start the new 5 year project
  • launch a national call centre to guide women to their nearest service – not just Marie Stopes Society services but also those provided by other accredited private sector and NGO providers
  • initiate a voucher scheme giving poor women to access free services from Marie Stopes Society and other accredited providers
