Highlights

  • distributed more than 6.5 million condoms during 2008
  • introduced male circumcision service as part of the fight against the spread of HIV
  • increased the number of clients seen by 21% in 2008
  • Banja La Mtsogolo provides 31% of all family planning services in the country
  • significantly reduced the number of STIs and scabies in all prisons in Malawi as a result of the Banja La Mtsogolo prison health screening programme
  • scaled up outreach to 202 rural community sites and increased the provision of free services to rural communities, complementing the Government’s scale up of the Essential Health Package
  • integrated a pilot anti retroviral treatment programme with existing services

  • establish a social franchise network to help expand access to quality sexual and reproductive services
  • increase the number of social franchising outlets from 60 to 300 by 2015
  • increase the provision of male circumcision provision
  • increase couple years of protection (CYPs) to 6.3m between 2009 and 2015.
