Marie Stopes International India was set up in mid 2008 and is building partnerships with government; providing technical expertise to other non government organisations (NGOs) and working with the private sector to form Public Private Partnerships.
Highlights
- delivered services, including sterilisation and vasectomy, to more than 18,000 clients during 2009
- started offering outreach intrauterine device (IUD) insertion services in Rajasthan
Future plans
- continue to work closely with the government in Rajasthan and expand sterilisation outreach work into a further eight regions of the state
- continue to expand intrauterine device (IUD) insertion services offered through outreach
- undertake further work into medical abortion in India
